SnapLogic alternative — SnapLogic vs Skippr

SnapLogic is iPaaS. You draw a pipeline of Snaps. A Snaplex runs it: CloudPlex in their cloud, or GroundPlex in yours. The price is the same either way. Packages are Essential, Professional, and Enterprise One. Official copy says unlimited pipelines, unlimited data movement, and unlimited integrations on that package. Core Snap Packs (databases, transforms, binary) sit in the base. Premium Snap Packs are a-la-carte. Ultra Pipelines, Resumable Pipelines, larger nodes, extra Orgs, and the ELT Snap Pack are configuration add-ons. An older SnapLogic pricing post listed premium packs at 45,000 USD (tier one) and 15,000 USD (tier two); current cards are quote. The Open Table Iceberg Snap Pack talks to an Iceberg REST catalog (Polaris and peers) on S3-compatible storage through Spark SQL (Iceberg 1.6.1, Spark 3.5.7): Select with time travel, Insert with inferred schema, Execute for DDL/DML. Snowflake CDC reads Snowflake Streams. Ultra can poll those. This is not a Streamhouse. There is no Iceberg ∪ WAL in SnapLogic.

Skippr is an open Streamhouse you run as one Rust binary. Write skippr.yml (or the same thing in Python), discover, sync. You query live state over Iceberg ∪ WAL, and the history is ordinary Iceberg in your bucket. No Snaplex. ELT into a warehouse is one path, not the product.

What SnapLogic is good at

A Snap that already wraps Workday or a warehouse load without a second tool. That is the product. Unlimited volume on a fixed package is why finance teams compare it to MAR billing. GroundPlex keeps the row in your VPC. If the job is "SaaS to warehouse on a Snaplex," that is a real product.

Where the job is wider

SnapLogic is a pipeline canvas. It is not a Streamhouse. There is no Iceberg ∪ WAL. There is no skipprd query on in-flight rows. Iceberg writes go through Spark SQL in a Snap Pack. You still query Athena or Trino after.

Package math is the ops. The base is unlimited bytes. The quote grows when you add a premium Snap, Ultra, or another Org. Snowflake CDC is Streams on Snowflake, not Postgres WAL. Ultra Scheduling becomes the default for Ultra subscribers in August 2026.

Skippr will not run a Snap pipeline. Skippr also will not match the SaaS Snap catalog. If the job is "iPaaS we already staff," SnapLogic is the narrower tool. If the job is live SQL on Iceberg you run, SnapLogic was never that.

Getting started

Install skipprd from the install guide, or pip install skippr. The three tabs write the same skippr.yml. Then discover, sync, and query.

Which to choose

Choose SnapLogic if you want Snaps into SaaS and warehouses, and a pipeline after the Snaplex is enough.

Choose Skippr if you want one binary, live SQL, and Iceberg files that stay yours. Skippr will not run a Snap.

Install from Install. Connector and query reference live in Developer Docs. For optional onboarding in your VPC, Enterprise Jumpstart or Contact.
